SNIPPETS FROM THE JUNE NZSAP MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING
NZSAP July 1996: Snippets from the management committee
- One Royal Society Fellowship report for NZSAP nomination was received,
unfortunately it was too late for the 1996 year.
- Our treasurer is presently combining small terminating investments into two major $100,000 parcels for the Animal Science Fund. Other investments will be maintained in lots of $10,000 on shorter terms to meet operating expenses.
- The Editor reported that he anticipated that the final copy for volume 56 would be forwarded to the printer by 1 July. He stressed the need that papers had to be submitted at the conference. He stressed the benefits of electronic copy and the use of e-mail to speed the review process.
- Criteria for selection abstracts were again discussed. This year they will be grouped into science, technology transfer, young members and review categories and each graded by 3 committee members with spreadsheets used to coordinate evaluations prior to the October meeting.
- Jock Macmillan reported that the ICAR Satellite meeting on "Techniques for gamete manipulation and storage" held at Ruakura was both a scientific and financial success. This conference was supported by seeding finance from NZSAP.
