Three basic aspects of the nutritional complex of swine are considered :

(1) The maintenance requirements of pigs and methods which could be used to reduce these. (2) The productive portion of rations and methods of making more efficient use of this. (3) The effect of such increases in efficiency upon the end product, when the herd rather than the animal is considered as the unit of production
