The value of small animals as aids in agricultural research is
discussed. They contribute information which is useful in :
(a) Disease detection and prevention. (b) Detecting and measuring
substances in pasture and crop species which affect large animals. (c)
Providing "pilot" information for larger animals. (d) Stimulating the
minds of research workers.
Some examples, mainly from recent or current New Zealand work are given.
