A selection scheme aimed at improving ewe fecundity is
described. This scheme involves studying the ovulation rate of ewe
hoggets by laparoscopic techniques and using the ovulation rate data as
the main basis of selection. Simulation exercises suggest that the
technique will be more successful than conventional methods.
